Founded in 1847 by Sir Henry Lawrence, The Lawrence School, Sanawar stands as one of the oldest co-educational boarding schools in the world. Established with the vision of providing holistic education to children, the school has consistently produced leaders in various fields including politics, armed forces, sports, arts, and business. Nestled amidst the picturesque Shivalik ranges near Kasauli, our 200-acre campus provides an ideal environment for learning and growth.

The school follows the motto "Never Give In" which encapsulates the spirit of resilience and perseverance that we instill in every student. Our educational philosophy balances academic rigor with character development, ensuring that students emerge as confident, compassionate, and responsible global citizens.

We are a fully residential school affiliated with the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), offering education from Class IV to Class XII. Admissions Process

Admissions to The Lawrence School, Sanawar are conducted through a transparent selection process that evaluates academic potential, extracurricular talents, and overall suitability for boarding school life.

Admissions are open for classes IV to IX and XI. Students must be between 8-16 years of age as on 1st April of the academic year. Applications must be submitted online with the following documents:

  • Birth Certificate
  • Previous two years' academic reports
  • Transfer Certificate (if applicable)
  • Passport-sized photographs
  • Medical fitness certificate

Application fee: ₹2,500 (non-refundable).

All applicants must appear for the Lawrence School Entrance Test (LSET) which assesses English, Mathematics, and General Aptitude. The test is conducted both online and offline at designated centers across India.

For classes IV-VI: Focus on basic language and numerical skills.
For classes VII-IX: Additional sections on Science and Social Studies.
For class XI: Subject-specific tests based on chosen stream.

Special consideration is given to children of armed forces personnel and alumni.

Shortlisted candidates are invited for a personal interview with the Principal and Head of Admissions. This may be conducted in person at Sanawar or via video conference for international applicants.

The interview assesses communication skills, motivation, and overall personality. Parents/guardians are also interviewed separately to ensure alignment with school values and expectations.

Final selection is based on combined performance in entrance test, previous academic record, interview, and extracurricular achievements. Results are declared within two weeks of interview.

  • 1 October 2023: Applications open

  • 20 January 2024: Entrance test
  • 10 February 2024: Interviews begin
  • 1 March 2024: First list announced
  • 1 April 2024: Academic session begins
